I have my own business, M.A. Buckner Photography, based in Louisville, Kentucky. My specialty is equine. I grew up down the street from a horse farm, and from an early age have loved being around horses. As an exhibiting artist, I participate in numerous art shows in Louisville, Lexington, Midway, and southern Indiana. I currently do six to eight shows a year.

I am a member of the Louisville Artisans Guild, the Oldham County Arts Association, and the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen. I am also an official licensee of Churchill Downs, which enables me to sell track images.

When composing a photograph, whether equine or otherwise, I often look for the simplicity in it, whether it be rusting paint on a bicycle or the dirt of a jockey’s boot. I like for my photographs to elicit an emotional response. Recently, a customer told me that a particular image of mine “spoke to her”. For me, that’s as good as it gets.
