2D Drawing

I enjoy drawing, photography, hiking and traveling. My first and lifelong love, however, is drawing. Through the course of my life, I have defined my artistic inspiration through my appreciation of nature. I find the core of my spirituality as I study the veins of a leaf or the root system of a tree. I express my inspirations with pencil or pen and ink mostly but love to do watercolors as well. Photography is my companion to drawing; it helps me document the beautiful details I can’t seem to remember. I have dozens of photographs aching to be drawn and photographs that stand as their own testament of a place I’ve been or a moment I’ve experienced. Even when I’m developing a drawing that is imaginative, I use my photographs to assist me in creating a unique image of my inner thoughts and ideas. Some of my art is juxtaposing realistic images to create a somewhat surrealistic composition. Hiking and traveling are as exciting to me as drawing. Sometimes I think drawing and photography are my excuse for exploring the woods like I did when I was a child. To find the perfect photograph to draw is a wonderful adventure for me, one that I hope I never out grow. I am a new member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsman (KGAC). I have participated as an artist in the KGAC spring and fall, 2010 shows. In addition, my work has been on exhibit at the Scott County Arts Council Gallery and the Artisan Center in Berea. |
