Always interested in the outdoors, hiking and canoeing, I naturally took to plein aire painting. There is nothing I enjoy more than being outdoors in quiet out-of-the-way places and paint uninterrupted, capturing a beautiful landscape on canvas. I am primarily self-taught but have studied with Larry Wheeler, Booth Malone, and Bill Fletcher among others. Twentieth Century British and American landscape painters have been influences, especially Jay Moore, Marc Hanson, Michael Alexander, Edward Seago, Stephan Datz and Laurie Kersey. Since I very much enjoy painting with others, I started the Plein Aire Painters of the Bluegrass. I am a member of Oil Painters of America. |
