I started wood carving in 1995, when having seen a friends hand carved hiking staff, I said to myself "I could do that!' A couple maple saplings cut from behind the garage and I was on my way! Before I was half way done with that 1st stick, I knew that I had found the artistic outlet that I had been searching for, quite frankly, for as long as I could remember!

Over the next 5 years, I continued to carve as a hobby, and with the help of a couple of wood carving "how to carve a..." books and a two day "carving a horse head" seminar, I expanded my repertoire to include celtic love spoons, equine busts, woodspirits, dragons, a "bath tub" Mary, and a St. Francis or two.

In late 2000, having gained a bit of self confidence from my wood carving experience, I embarked on what turned out to be a 10 year journey exploring the wondrous world of Lutherie. During this period the wood carving was put on the shelf!

In early 2010, after 6 guitars and a move from upstate New York to Kentucky, a decision was made to recommit myself to developing my latent wood carving skills.

Many, thou not all, of my current carvings have a celtic, equine, or "woodspirit" type theme.
