David Waltz

As a child, I always enjoyed building and creating; the messier the materials, the more I loved it. I decided I was going to be an artist in high school and then completed my BA at EKU and my Master’s at Marshall University. After teaching middle school art in Maryland for 32 years, I retired to Kentucky. It is wonderful to create art almost every day, cut wood, go fishing, mountain biking, or work in the garden, whenever I want. My studio and gallery are located outside Columbia, KY, on a formerly Amish farm.

I enjoy creating functional and decorative stoneware pottery, as well as a wide range of figurative sculptures. All pottery is made from stoneware clay fired to a temperature of 2350 F. All pottery glazes are nontoxic and lead free. Pottery pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe. Figurative sculptures are fired to 2000 F and then pit fired to create a weathered look.
