Lynne Fowler Cagle grew up in Richmond, KY and now resides in Lexington, Ky. She received her BFA degree from Murray State University with an emphasis in painting. Cagle works primarily with oil paint and pastels to produce abstract works influenced by organic shapes in nature and through the process of layering paint. Conceptually her work deals with opposites and how they reflect one upon the other. In these works the surroundings of the object are somewhat more important than the object itself.
Technically her painting style consists of broad
strokes, mark making, layering and glazing. The painting feels like a painting when completed not a picture. This process of painting can be seen by examining the many layers.
